  • Roxy Theatre The Roxy is the oldest, continuously operating Theatre in country NSW. The Roxy Theatre opened in April 1930 and was a fine example of the theatres of the period, solidly built in a classic design that has retained its charm over the years.
  • Fivebough Wetlands Fivebough and Tuckerbil Swamps are Wetlands of International Importance (Ramsar) and were designated under the International Convention on Wetlands on 21 October 2002.
  • Hot Air Balloons The Leeton SunRice Festival is held biennially at Easter in conjunction with the region’s rice harvest. As part of the SunRice Festival hot air balloon enthusiasts attend a Balloon Glow
  • Rice field Trials carried out by the NSW Department of Agriculture at the Yanco Experiment Farm showed irrigated rice production was well suited to the temperate Mediterranean climate and heavy clay soils in the region.
  • Murrumbidgee River The Murrumbidgee River is an integral part of Leeton with irrigation water being supplied from the River. The River also has a number of beaches, water skiing areas and fishing spots, as well as boat ramps for easy access.
  • Rice industry SunRice is the international brand of Ricegrowers Limited, which has its headquarters in Leeton. SunRice is owned by about 2,000 Australian rice growers.
  • Rice farming There are 11 varieties of rice grown in Australia. Researchers are constantly working to develop new rice3 varieties which are more water efficient.
  • Wine grapes Since the first plantings of winegrapes in 1913, the Riverina has continued its growth to become the largest winegrape producing region in New South Wales.
  • Former Whitton Station The timber railway station was constructed in Brunell Street for the Department of Public Works by Mr A H Scouller and opened on 1 September 1881.
  • Historic Hydro Motor Inn The Historic Hydro was designed by the Department of Works and built for the WC & IC as accommodation for Commission officers and visitors.

Fivebough Wetland
Please note that Fivebough Wetland is currently closed to the public due to Crown Lands undertaking significant environmental  improvement works.
Given the extended period of wet weather it is likely that the wetland will be closed to the public for some time. 
Any visitors thinking of visiting the wetland should make prior contact with Crown Lands or Leeton Shire Council to determine that the wetland has been reopened to the public.
