Leeton Shire Council is offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join our Planning, Building and Health Services team as a Cadet Building Surveyor. This full-time cadetship includes hands-on experience and support to complete the CPCSS00005 skill set, leading to registration as a Building Surveyor Restricted (Class 1 & 10) within 2 to 3 years.

The primary purpose of the position is to assist in the delivery of building certification services and support basic planning and building functions across the Shire under the guidance of the Building Surveyor.


Qualifications and Experience

  • The applicant will have successfully completed the High School Certificate with eligibility to enrol and complete skill set training CPCSS00005 as Building Surveyor Restricted (Class 1 and 10).
  • Council offer continuing full-time employment upon completion of the Cadetship with a minimum three-year commitment from the successful candidate to Leeton Shire Council. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the general public and fellow employees are essential together with the capability of writing standard reports.


Salary & Conditions:

  • The role is graded at Grade T5 – T10 (depending on age and relevant qualifications and/or experience) plus 11.5% superannuation.
  • The position is full-time, 35 hours per week, with one rostered day off per month.
  • Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award
  • The successful applicant will be required to undergo and successfully pass a “Drug and Alcohol” screening and “Medical Assessment”.
