Pet Registration

It is mandatory under the Companion Animals Act 1998, Regulation No. 87 that pet owners ensure their cats and dogs are microchipped for identification and registered with their local Council. Failing to microchip or register a pet can result in a penalty.

Animal owners are fully responsible to ensure pets are healthy, safe and do not create a nuisance in their neighbourhood.

Ensure your cat or dog has been microchipped by 12 weeks of age, or before being sold or given away, whichever happens first.

Step 2.Download and complete the forms below:

  1. Lifetime Registration form
  2. Verification of Existing Microchip form OR Permanent Identification form (if pet is not microchipped)

Step 3.Visit us

Bring your completed forms and pay by cash, cheque, EFTPOS or credit card at our Council office, 23-25 Chelmsford Place, Leeton, between 9am and 4pm Monday to Friday.

Registration fees

The registration fee is a once-only payment, which covers your pet for its lifetime in NSW, regardless of any changes in ownership.

Registration fees are in accordance with clause 18 of the Companion Animals Regulation 2018.

Change of address or ownership

Pet owners can update details via their NSW Pet Registry online profile.

Alternatively, please download and complete the Change of Owner/Details form and deliver it Council's Customer Service Centre at 23-25 Chelmsford Place, Leeton.
