Why Is My Third Trimester Water Bill Higher?

You may have noticed your third trimester (December 2024 to April 2025) water bill is higher than earlier in the year. Please note water charges per kilolitre have NOT changed from Trimester 1 or 2.

Water charges are based on how much you use across the whole financial year. The more you use, the higher the tier you move into. This system has been in place for over a decade to incentivise the wise use of water.

It is most likely that due to a hot, dry summer/autumn households have used more water than they would have in previous cooler, wetter years, pushing charges into Tier 3.

Important Note 1: Council is hearing residents’ concerns and will consider what can change to smooth out water bills in future years.

Important Note 2: Income from water charges can only be used for water services – nothing else.
