Council would like to thank the Leeton Shire community for getting behind the new three bin system (including the introduction of the green lidded FOGO bin) by giving away free compost tea to 10 lucky winners.

The new system was launched on 1 July 2024 and continues to impress with 48.74% of waste having been diverted from landfill since its introduction.

The compost tea used in the giveaway was produced at WormTech, a local licenced composting facility, who process the food and garden waste across Leeton Shire’s kerbside service.

Entering the competition is easy and only requires a couple of simple steps:

  • Like and share the competition post on the Leeton Shire Council Facebook page
    OR
  • Visit the Leeton Shire Council administration office or Leeton Shire Library and note down your name on the competition entry form

    OR

  • Subscribe to Leeton Shire Council’s electronic newsletter by visiting https://bit.ly/LSCNewsletterSignUp

The winners will be drawn at random and notified via their nominated contact details after Wednesday, 13 November 2024.

Each winner will receive a box of 35 x 150g sachets of compost tea that they can pick up from the Leeton Shire Council office at their convenience.

Manager Environmental Sustainability, Luke Tedesco, said, “It’s great to give back to our community. Residents have done a fantastic job sorting their waste and have got behind the new system with great enthusiasm. Thank you.

“We hope our residents are able to make the most of their new green lidded FOGO bin with Spring offering more opportunities to dispose of garden waste, such as grass clippings and tree branches.”
