2025/26 Youth Development Grant Awarded to Salvatore Alampi
Published on 16 July 2025
Council awarded a Youth Development Grant of $250 to Salvatore Alampi to assist him with the costs of attending the Emerging Socceroos football (soccer) tournament held in Melbourne from 6 – 11 July 2025.
Salvatore represented Country NSW at the tournament, which featured the best 15 and 16-year-old players from across all Australian states and territories. Country NSW began their campaign with a hard-fought 0–0 draw against Northern NSW, followed by a 3–1 loss to Queensland Silver. In a standout performance, they secured a 3–2 victory over the previously unbeaten South Australia squad. Despite this impressive win, the team narrowly missed progressing to the top-eight finals on goal difference, finishing third in their group.
In the following rounds, Country NSW played against Northern Territory, Tasmania, and Queensland, securing one win and two losses. Despite the defeats late in the tournament, the squad was recognised as one of the most successful Country NSW teams in recent years. Salvatore’s participation was a testament to his talent and efforts, and Council is proud to support young athletes striving at such a high level.
The ‘Youth Development’ Grant Category is offered at a set amount of $250 per applicant and is available to support high achievement in a cultural, academic, or sporting activity that requires attendance at a State, National or International level event.
