Committees of Council

ARIC meeting

Leeton Shire Council has developed a Committee structure that aims to support the delivery of Council’s core activities and objectives outlined in our Delivery Program and Operational Plan.

There are six distinct groups of Council representation on committees (internal and external), each with a defined role and/or terms of reference.

Section 355 Committees

These Council committees carry out a function of Council and have some financial delegation. They include: 

  • Light Up Leeton Committee
  • SunRice Festival Committee
  • Whitton Community Hall Committee
  • Whitton Courthouse and Historical Museum Committee
  • Yanco Community Hall Committee

Advisory Committees/Working Groups

These Council committees provide advice to Council on policy and strategy implementation. They include: 

  • Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee
  • CBD Enhancement Advisory Committee
  • Community Grant Funding Working Group
  • General Manager Review Committee
  • Gogeldrie Weir Recreational Facilities Committee
  • Infrastructure Working Group
  • Leeton Flood Plain Management Committee
  • Leeton Local Traffic Committee
  • Leeton Shire Heritage Committee
  • Leeton Tree Advisory Committee
  • Leeton Weeds Committee
  • Leeton Youth Council
  • Roxy Community Theatre Advisory Committee (in recess)
  • Roxy Redevelopment Committee (Build and Operations)
  • Financial Sustainability Advisory Committee
  • Traffic and Events Working Group

Action Committees

These Council committees provide volunteer support to various Council functions. They include: 

  • Leeton Australia Day Committee 
  • Sporting Walk of Fame
  • Henry Lawson Cottage Committee
  • Whitton Town Improvement Committee
  • Yanco Town Improvement Committee
  • Health Advisory Committee (Internal)

External Committees/Organisations

These include:

  • Country Mayors Association
  • Leeton Business Chamber
  • Bushfire Management Committee
  • Fivebough and Tuckerbil Wetlands Advisory Committee

Shared Services Committees/Organisations

These include:

  • Narrandera–Leeton Airport Management Committee
  • Riverina and Murray Joint Organisation (RAMJO)

Liaisons

These include:

  • Executive Aboriginal Strategic Liaison
  • Executive Murrumbidgee Irrigation Strategic Liaison
  • Police Liaison
