Sharps such as needles and syringes pose a health risk to the community and it is the responsibility of any individuals, health professionals, community organisations and businesses using these items to dispose of them appropriately.

Health professionals, community organisations or businesses handling and / or disposing of sharps waste must implement a Clinical and Related Waste Management Plan in accordance with ‘NSW Health Clinical and Related Waste Management for Health Services’.
