The
Local Studies Room in Leeton Shire Library houses resources relating to the
rich history of the Leeton Local Government Area.
These
resources include books, booklets, pamphlets, maps, photographs, newspapers,
and a clippings file.
Cataloguing
this material is a painstaking task, and each month we add more records to the
library catalogue.
Resources in the Local Studies Room are generally designated as Reference, and can only be used in the Library.
We also hold a collection of Genealogy titles to help with researching family history.
The library holds microfilm of the Murrumbidgee Irrigator from 1915 to 2001; and The Irrigator from 2001 to 2019.
Ancestry.com - the world’s largest family history website offers census, birth, death & shipping records and more – is available for free access by library members in the library.
The library has strong ties to the Leeton Family & Local History Society, who provide excellent research and collections about the history of the local area. The LF&LHS are housed in the Leeton Museum and Gallery. More information is available through the Society’s website and facebook .
