Get Involved – Join a Council Community Committee
Published on 10 October 2025
Leeton Shire Council is inviting community members to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to become part of our Section 355 Committees, Advisory Committees, Working Groups, and Action Committees. These committees give the community a formal voice in Council’s decisions and play a vital role in shaping the future of our Shire.
Committees bring local knowledge, lived experience, and practical ideas to help shape Council priorities and plans. Their work supports long-term goals like those outlined in the Leeton Shire Community Strategic Plan (Leeton on the Go Towards 2035), and gives residents a way to actively influence what happens in their community. By listening to Committee feedback, Council can better understand community expectations, identify challenges early, and deliver more responsive services and programs.
Committees include:
- Gogeldrie Riverside Park & Facilities Committee
- Henry Lawson Cottage Committee
- Leeton Flood Plan Management Committee
- Leeton Shire Heritage Committee
- Leeton Sports Precinct Advisory Committee (NEW)
- Leeton Tree Advisory Committee
- Leeton Weeds Committee
- Light Up Leeton Committee
- SunRice Festival Committee
- Whitton Court House & Historical Museum Committee
- Whitton Town Hall Committee
- Whitton Town Improvement Committee
- Yanco Hall & Market Committee
- Yanco Town Improvement Committee
- Roxy Advisory Committee
“Joining a Council committee is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact in our community,” said Mayor Cr George Weston.
“As a committee member, you’ll engage directly with local issues and priorities, influence the design and delivery of key programs, advocate for matters that shape our Shire, and collaborate with Council representatives to develop innovative solutions. We also provide the support and training you need to contribute effectively.”
Important to know
Committees operate under a Terms of Reference (ToR), which sets out the purpose of the Committee and membership details. Anyone interested is encouraged to read relevant sections in Council’s new Council Committee Information & Terms of Reference Book before applying.
