Leeton Shire Council’s CBD Enhancement project in Wade Avenue is continuing successfully with a focus of works now taking place on the western side of the avenue. The project team are currently continuing with street lighting and garden works over the next week before turning their attention to finalising concrete and parking works.
Single direction closures will occur over the coming week, to ensure heavy crane access and safety of personnel working in the Centre Medium. Please be observant and adhere to all traffic management signage and direction. The safety of both the public and workers is paramount during ongoing works.
Roxy Lane remains closed to through traffic. It stills remains open to 2 Way traffic from the Mountford Park end of the Lane..
Council would like to thank all the businesses for their support and understand over the last months. We continue to work with all affected parties to minimise the impact to businesses, community and customers. We appreciate your patience and understanding as works continue towards the enhancement works of Leeton’s town centre.
Parking:
Parking is available in and around Jarrah Street and Wade Avenue as per the diagram. Roxy Lane is continuing to remain a no through road for the remainder of the works and is only open to local traffic during this time. Parking will continue to be available in Jarrah St, around Mountford Park and adjacent to the Leeton Court House (within the vacant lot) on the corner of Church and Oak Streets. Please be aware of pedestrians and contractors and maintain a slow speed when driving in these areas.
Pedestrians:
With regards pedestrian access to businesses and properties, there continues to be full access to the street-fronts of all businesses on Wade Ave. Pedestrians should be aware that conditions and access may change, please be observant and following directions provided. Please do not enter fenced or sign posted construction zones due to the potential risk of injury.
For information:
Current Road Seal – Sacrificial Seal for Construction only
We have received a series of community comments regarding the condition of the new sealed surface. This is a sacrificial seal to prevent damage to the road base works and is common practice during construction when heavy construction vehicles continue to work in the zone. Upon the completion of construction works, permanent sealing works will be undertaken.
If conditions change to the above, Council will provide further updates and information accordingly.
