Nominations for the 2021 Australia Day ceremony are now open and the Leeton Shire community is being encouraged to nominate individuals and groups who they believe are worthy recipients of an award.
Each year Council presents awards across several categories at an Australia Day ceremony which celebrates the outstanding contributions that individuals, community groups and organisations make in the Shire.
Leeton Shire Australia Day Committee Chairman, Cr George Weston, said the Australia Day Committee is encouraging the community to put forward nominations.
“There are many worthy recipients in our community, but they can’t be recognised unless someone nominates them,” said Cr Weston.
“This includes the many unsung heroes who do so much to improve the lives of those around them for no other reason than a willingness to help,” said Cr Weston.
“If you know of a person or community group who has gone above and beyond to help improve the life of others, don't miss the opportunity to nominate them for an award.
“There are also those in our community who display determination and dedication, excelling in their chosen area. What better way to recognize these local individuals, groups or organisations than on Australia Day,” added Cr Weston.
Nominating is easy and can be quickly done online by clicking on this link:
Alternatively you can complete a hard copy paper form which is available upon request from Council or from the Leeton Visitor’s Information Centre.
Nominations close on Thursday 10 December 2020.
