I am currently serving my second term as a Councillor on Leeton Shire Council and feel it is a privilege to serve a community that is so productive, diverse, resilient and friendly.
Having been born and raised in Leeton and operated a family horticultural farming business with my husband for the past thirty-five years whilst raising our family I feel I understand what our community is about. I enjoy being a Councillor because I am passionate and actively involved in continuing to see our vibrant shire prosper and feel I have knowledge and skills to contribute. As a CPA Accountant and having worked for large agricultural companies in this region I understand how business and agriculture operate.
Our agriculture and agribusiness remain strong, resilient, innovative and world class producing amongst both exciting and challenging times. This occurs across a range of diverse industries including horticulture, cropping, livestock, nut production, aquaculture, processing and value-adding sectors and supporting businesses excelling in their fields in our shire. I am committed to seeing Leeton Shire remain Fit For the Future which involves ensuring we can stand alone by improving and maintaining our existing assets, exploring and expanding business growth opportunities, supporting current agriculture and business, in a responsibly sustainable and financially strong position whilst laying the foundations to take our shire into the future. This also involves ensuring efficient resource providers and transport and freight connectivity for both domestic and global markets.
I represent the Councillors on the Leeton Shire Audit and Risk Committee which allows me to provide assurance and assistance to Leeton Shire Council on risk management, control, governance and external accountability responsibilities along with continuous improvement. As a member of the Roxy Redevelopment Committee I have the opportunity along with passionate, skilled and committed others in the community to enhance this historic and majestic building for future generations to utilise and enjoy. The opportunity with our CBD precinct enhancement project to highlight our unique Art Deco features and reinvigorate our main street appeal is exciting to be involved with. I am a keen sporting enthusiast and look forward to being able to continue to enhance and improve our current sporting facilities to provide choices for healthy lifestyles.
Our shire is a unique, caring and friendly community to live and raise a family, with the vast choice of educational facilities, the freshest local produce available in our restaurants and the high-quality sporting facilities, nature walks and parks that are available for all to use and enjoy.
Thank you to the Leeton Shire affording me this opportunity to represent you as a Councillor and along with working with my fellow Councillors, Leeton Shire Staff and the community to continue to make Leeton Shire the place of choice to live.
Regards, Cr Tracey Morris
