Leeton Shire Council approved five applications totalling $18,880 for funding assistance as part of the 2017/18 Local Heritage Places Grants Scheme at its October Ordinary Council meeting.
Council’s Manager Planning, Building and Health Garry Stoll stated in his report to Council that the Local Heritage Places Grants for 2017/18 were advertised and open for application during July and August 2017, with an emphasis again placed on buildings within the Leeton CBD.
Mayor Cr Paul Maytom said that it was of great importance that Council continue to focus this funding opportunity on enhancing the look of the Leeton CBD.
“By providing this funding opportunity to Leeton Shire residents we are ensuring that building owners in our main street have access to funding that will tidy and restore facades that have long been a part of the footprint of Leeton’s main street precinct.”
“Improvement works of this nature will continue to be a focus as Council builds towards relaunching the Leeton Art Deco Festival in 2019.”
The five applications
approved by Council were: Washington’s Furniture façade upgrade ($3,000), Get
Set Office restoration ($4,500), Old Kendalls Building external façade painting
($6,000), St Peters Hall roof replacement ($4,500) and Leeton Sports Power external
