Leeton Swimming Pool redevelopment works to commence in early March

The much-anticipated renovation of the Leeton Swimming Pool is almost here with the last day of operations for the pool to be Tuesday 3 March.

Leeton Shire Mayor Paul Maytom expressed his delight that the project is finally becoming a reality.  

“Council took time to invite and carefully consider the community’s ideas for the rejuvenation of the Leeton Swimming Pool before commissioning a design plan for the precinct.  Once that was consulted on and agreed to, Council embarked on an ambitious fundraising campaign.  Many hours were put into grant applications and advocacy to the State Government to get project funding over the line. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all involved for their persistence and hard work which strengthens Leeton’s position as the regional centre for swimming competitions.” 

Council will be expanding the existing 8 lanes to 10 lanes and adding a full disabled ramp access and wet deck. The learn to swim area will be transformed with one pool replacing the existing two kids’ pools and multiple water toys will also be supplied as part of the learn to swim area. Another important and exciting new feature will be the 9-metre tower which will support two twisting enclosed and open water slides replacing the existing single, smaller water slide. This structure will be seen from the Soldiers Club roundabout! 

Council acknowledges the $3 million funding received from the NSW Government Regional Communities Development Fund towards the cost of the development.

The Leeton Swimming Pool facility will be closed to the general public from Tuesday 3 March through until December (opening date to be confirmed).  Council thanks the community for their patience while these exciting works are completed.
