Work is underway on the redevelopment of the Leeton Showground Grandstand after the fully executed funding deed was signed recently.
Leeton Shire Mayor Paul Maytom said that this project has long been on the bucket list as a high priority for upgrade from various user groups of the Leeton Showground precinct.
“For many years the Leeton Showground Grandstand has been in dire condition. I’m thrilled that after advocating with various government departments and other key stakeholders over an extended period that this upgrade will soon be a reality for the hardworking user groups and community members that utilise the Leeton Showground Precinct on a regular basis.”
Council’s Manager Special Projects Adrian Edgcome-Lucas, who is responsible for the delivery of this project, outlined what works will be undertaken.
“The project comprises of fully functional change room facilities for players as well as match officials, fully operational canteen with cool room, lift to the first-floor glass enclosed function area with toilet and proposed bar facilities, seating for approximately 200 people as well as two accessible seating areas accessible via the lift.”
The project budget is $1.996 million with financial contributions coming from the Australian Government ($496k), AFL governing body ($100k), $800k (NSW Government Stronger Communities Fund), NSW Government Public Reserves Management Fund ($400k) and Leeton Shire Council ($200k via loan funding).
The project is due for completion by mid-September 2020.23-25 Chelmsford Place
