Nominations for the 2020 Australia Day ceremony are now open and the Leeton community is being encouraged to nominate those citizens within the shire who are worthy of such honour.
The Australia Day Committee is seeking your assistance in identifying those who go above and beyond for the community, so that the Shire can express formal gratitude for the very important place they hold in our Community.
Leeton’s Australia Day committee Chairman, Cr George Weston believes that there are many worthy recipients in the local community, but they can’t be recognised unless someone nominates them.
“We all know someone who goes above and beyond for their community, group or organisation and so this is the perfect opportunity to recognise those individuals amongst us and nominate them for an award”, Mr Weston said.
The guidelines are straightforward with the process for nomination being simplified to online application or a hard copy paper form upon request.
Mr Weston continued, “Many quiet achievers do so much to improve the lives of those around them for no other reason than a willingness to help. There are also those who display determination and dedication, excelling in their chosen area. These individuals, groups or organisations are more than worthy to receive a vote of thanks, and what better way to do this then on Australia Day”.
Nominations can be lodged online at http://bit.ly/Nominate2705 or via completing a hard copy paper form which are available upon request from Leeton Shire Council.
