Join us at Leeton Shire Library on Wednesday 5 December to celebrate International Day of People with Disability. Thanks to a partnership between Ability Links NSW, Intereach, Leeton Shire Council, and the Department of Human Services, two special events have been planned.
Storytime for Preschoolers will start at 10.00 for 10.30am, and will feature special guest story reader, Angela Stevens. Angela is the Business Support Officer at Leeton Council, and has picked a fun story to tell. There will be our usual stories, songs and craft, followed at 11am by morning tea.
This morning tea is open to the community who are invited along for an 11.30am Speaker Event. Mary Catanzariti will speak to us about living with cerebral palsy, and will share her beautiful poetry. There will be an opportunity to purchase a signed copy of Mary’s book, ‘Mary’s Voice in Poetry’.
International Day of People with Disability is celebrated each year, and this year’s theme is ‘empowering persons with disabilities and ensuring inclusiveness and equity’. Everyone is welcome to come along to support this celebratory theme. Both Storytime and Mary’s Speaker Event are free, and no bookings are required.
