Delivery of Essential Council Services during COVID-19 Pandemic

Leeton Shire Council is advancing its business continuity plans to ensure essential Council services will continue uninterrupted whatever the next few months may bring. Council is also working to ensure that our valued residents and customers stay safe when engaging with our staff and facilities.

What Council asks ratepayers and customers to do during the current situation:

• Council offers online payment of bills and asks customers to make every effort to pay invoices via phone and internet banking using BPay. For online payments visit

If you need assistance phone Council on (02) 6953 0911. Please note if making payments online or by phone is not an option, Council’s administration building is currently operating normal hours and you are welcome to come in.

• Please use the alcohol-based hand sanitiser that has been placed at Council’s various facilities. All visitors are encouraged to regularly wash their hands and maintain social distancing at all times.

What operating changes have been made at Council facilities to date:

• Council Administration Building: Business as usual.

• Leeton Library: Open regular hours but all group-style programs cancelled. Henry Lawson meeting room open but check cancellations by some user groups.

• The Roxy Community Theatre: Continuing to screen movies with new seating rules to promote social distancing.

• Visitors Information Centre: Open regular hours but not accepting new tour group bookings.

• Leeton Early Learning Centre: Business as usual.

• Indoor Stadium: Business as usual, however check cancellations by some sporting regulatory bodies.

• Leeton Golf Course: Business as usual.

• Leeton Multipurpose Centre: Business as usual, however check cancellations by some user groups.

• Whitton Swimming Pool: Business as usual.

• Leeton Swimming Pool: Closed for refurbishment.

What Council is doing to support local businesses:

• Council is adopting a flexible and pragmatic approach to enforcement and compliance action during this period. Council will temporarily extend your operating hours or delivery schedule if that supports your business or the community. Please phone Council’s Planning Department on (02) 6953 0927 for assistance.

• Council has relaxed restrictions on the use of footpaths to support social distancing when dining outdoors. Please phone Council’s Planning Department on (02) 6953 0927 for clarification.

• If you wish to meet Council staff for rates enquiries, please phone ahead on (02) 6953 0911 to schedule an appointment. Where possible, meetings will be conducted over the phone to limit face to face contact.

Remember, if you are feeling unwell at any stage, ring HealthDirect in the first instance on 1800 022 222 or arrange to see your General Practitioner. If you need to attend the Emergency Department at the Leeton Hospital, please phone in advance to describe your symptoms.
