Leeton Shire Council resolved at its September Ordinary Council Meeting to support the waiving of the Landfill and Recycling fee for the disposal of 4 to 6 tonnes of concrete, valued at approximately $390.
Gralee School P & C wrote to Council requesting that it consider waiving the Landfill and Recycling fees for the disposal of 4 to 6 tonnes of concrete resulting from the removal of an existing, decaying pathway.
Mayor Cr Paul Maytom said that no financial assistance is being provided from the Department of Education for this project making it even more important that Council support the works in some way.
“Gralee School provides education to approximately 35 disabled students from the Leeton Shire and other children from throughout our neighbouring communities. The Gralee P&C are replacing the schools front pathway leading from the main entrance to the playground and administration office to make it safer for students with disabilities.”
“Council is pleased to help in a small way by waiving the landfill fees for the old concrete footpath.”
