At its September Ordinary Council Meeting Leeton Shire Council reviewed the half yearly update on operational activities at the Leeton Golf Course for the period 1 January 2018 to 30 June 2018.
Council’s Director Corporate and Community Craig Bennett said that a slight fall in members’ fees and a substantial rise in green fees indicates that Leeton Golf Course has greater numbers of the public playing social golf rather than competitive golf.
“There were significantly more rounds of golf played during the 2017/2018 year when compared to last year. The main contributing factor to the increase has been favourable weather conditions over the last 12 months.”
It was also reported that Council had budgeted for an annual
operating loss for the Leeton Golf Course of $150,000 for the 2017/2018
Financial Year.
However, the Income and Expenses Statement for the Leeton Golf Course for the
period 1 July 2017 to 30 June 2018 showed a net loss of only $22,816, compared
to a net loss of $80,686 for the same period last year.
Mayor Cr Paul Maytom said that the $22,816 net loss represents an excellent result, compared to the previous year and continues the trend of reducing the net operating costs to Council at the Leeton Golf Course.
“The Leeton Golf Course volunteers and Council’s Open Space and Recreation Team have formed a strong working relationship and this result is a credit to all involved who work so diligently to upkeep this very important asset for our community.”
