Council gears up for the Lyrics, Landscapes and Lintels Art Heritage Trail

At its March Ordinary Council meeting, Leeton Shire Council approved $30,000 to provide safe access and parking as part of the Lyrics, Landscapes and Lintels public artworks and installations at the Yanco and Leeton west town entrance sites.

Council’s Director of Environment and Engineering Brian Ashcroft stated in his report to Council that town entrances created the first impression for visitors as they entered Leeton and Yanco.

Two of the five new artworks will be installed at town entrances and we need to ensure visitors can safely enter the sites and have easy access to view the works.

The other three artworks will be located in Whitton, in Wade Avenue and near the water towers in Chelmsford Place. They are on track to be installed over the coming month or so and will be officially launched mid-year.

Council opted to defer the more extensive Town Entrances project until the 2018/19 budget estimates where they can be prioritised along with all the capital works projects.
