Council discusses DRAFT Riverina Murray Joint Organisation (RAMJO) Charter

Leeton Shire Council discussed the DRAFT Riverina Murray Joint Organisation (RAMJO) Charter at its July Ordinary Council meeting.

The inaugural meeting of RAMJO was held on Friday 29 June 2018 and each of the nine (9) voting member Councils were represented at this meeting.

The DRAFT Vision for the joint organisation is “An enterprising, collaborative and productive region, providing quality environmental, lifestyle and infrastructure, with strong economic and social opportunities that ensure ongoing community wellbeing.”

Leeton Shire Council Mayor Cr Paul Maytom said that whilst the makeup of RAMJO is very similar to the former RAMROC organisation, its strategic focus is going to be significantly boosted by having the Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC) sitting around the table as a full member. 

“This new formal agreement with the State Government will see improved collaborative planning by local and state government which is exciting for regional councils such as Leeton.”

Ray Stubbs was appointed as RAMJO’s Interim Executive Officer at the inaugural meeting on a contract basis for the period Monday 2^nd July 2018 until Wednesday 31^st October 2018 and thereafter on a month to month basis at the discretion of the Board, pending the advertising and recruitment of a permanent Executive Officer.

Mayor of Albury City Council Cr Kevin Mack was elected unopposed as Chairperson of RAMJO and Mayor of Griffith City Council Cr John Dal Broi was also elected unopposed as Deputy Chairperson, both for two year terms of office.
