Council and Leeton Health Services Crisis Committee

Last month Mayor Tony Reneker urged our community to take part in the Health Services Survey that was released by the Murrumbidgee Local Health District as their first step in developing a Health / Clinical Services Plan for Leeton Shire. Leeton Shire Council and Leeton Health Services Crisis Committee are very pleased with the number of the surveys completed to date, with the last report this week being over 800.

“We’ve had such a great response to the surveys so far, let’s keep that momentum going by encouraging your family and friends to complete this survey,” said Mayor Reneker.

“Murrumbidgee Local Health District (MLHD) and Council values input from community and welcomes your thoughts and feedback,” he added.

In addition to the surveys, the MLHD will later this month also host community workshops that will include future focused discussions and activities to help shape the future direction of the Leeton Health Service.

The workshops will be hosted in three different locations in Leeton Shire to help accommodate residents in a wide catchment. Mayor Reneker and Leeton Shire Councillors encourage the community to attend one of these workshops and express their opinions on the future of our health services.

“There has been lots of talk about our local health services, now is our chance to speak up and be heard,” said Mayor Reneker

The findings from the workshops will inform both the MLHD’s Health Services Plan and Leeton Shire’s own Integrated Health Services Strategy.

Leeton Health Services Crisis Committee (LHSCC) Chair Maryann Iannelli hopes the community will attend the workshops in droves as they are an important key to shaping the future of our health services.

“Only we can tell them what we want. This is a great opportunity to create a positive change for our community,” said Ms Iannelli.

There will be four workshops for all the community to attend and two specifically for the local Aboriginal community for Aboriginal people who would prefer to attend these sessions.  Attendees are required to register in advance.

In chronological order, the workshop sessions are as follows.
