About Deputy Mayor Cr George Weston
George Weston has been a Councillor on Leeton Shire Council for 21 years and Deputy Mayor for the past 10 years.
Cr Weston emigrated from England in 1967 to Sydney when he was 15 years old with his family.
George along with his brother Lionel and their wives made the big move to Leeton in 1978 to start their business, Weston and Weston Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, next door to what was then the Murrumbidgee County Council and they lived in one of the flats at the back. In 1998, George opened Leeton Fitness Centre (now Studio 9) and operated it for 10 years.
A good listener and not afraid to get his hands dirty and support good causes and community events, Cr Weston’s passion and long track record of community involvement since he arrived in Leeton has given him the ability to know and understand the problems and aspirations of our community as a whole.
He is also a father, grandfather and an active member of several service groups and organisations including Friends of Luro (Timor Leste), Light Up Leeton and Rotary.
